i can do it without you

...except no, no I can't. Help me buy shoes. I had to toss my old blue suede retro Skechers when I came back from Egypt--too much embedded sand, tar and camel hair, alas. I'm leaning towards these (as is the Boy, when queried):

but part of me feels like I should choose something a little more sneaker-y and perhaps slightly more rugged:

Maybe the correct answer is to buy them both and then send one back (or, uh, not... *cough*). Unless the readership weighs in as in favor of one or the other (or neither)...? A girl can, sadly, not live on Fluevogs alone.

You should get the top pair, because I want the second pair. In fact, you should send me an email telling me where to buy them, because my sneakers are dead, and it's refusing to be flipflop weather.

BOTH! CHOOSE BOTH!

Here's my logic: if you buy both of them, then you'll have TWO pairs of new sneakers! It's twice as awesome!

This is what I did a month ago, and I haven't looked back.

ooh...my first instinct is to pick the blue ones because I always like blue things, but the second ones are more flexible. case in point: I *love* my lime green/baby pink all-stars, but I have to be careful about what I wear them with (or just resign myself to clashing). so the practical solution is the second pair, but I wouldn't judge if you just got both :-D
